The Cultural Trade Commissioner (CTC) is associated with the Trade Routes program, Trade & Investment Branch of the Department of Canadian Heritage.  The CTC's role is to provide support services to the following cultural sectors in their development of international trade activities:

National Research Council – IRAP
NRC-IRAP helps small and medium-sized Canadian firms build their capability in technology and innovation. Industrial Technology Advisors (ITAs) work with on-site to assess company needs and design tailored solutions. Expertise reflects regional industrial profiles and covers a range of technologies that include the resource-based industries (e.g., forestry, mining), electronics, software, advanced materials, industrial engineering, food technology, biotechnology, optics, and physics.

IRAP offers you direct technical assistance, access to the latest technological advances, expertise, facilities, and resources, as well as cost-shared financing of innovative technical projects.

Export Development Canada
EDC provides innovative financing, insurance and bonding solutions to Canadian companies that export goods and services, or invest in other countries. They operate in 200 markets worldwide, including 130 emerging markets. They help Canadian enterprises – mainly small and medium sized – manage risk and capitalize on trade opportunities around the globe.

Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC)
The BDC helps to create and develop Canadian businesses through financing, venture capital and consulting services, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Western Economic Diversification
Western Economic Diversification Canada's promotes the development and diversification of the economy of Western Canada and advance the interests of the West in national economic policy. This mandate is delivered primarily through grants and contributions programs, which enable the department to contribute strongly to the productivity and competitiveness of the West. WD also supports the Western Canada Business Service Network, which provides over 100 points of service to assist new and existing entrepreneurs in cities and rural communities to create and grow their businesses
