Export USA Webinar: Intellectual Property Considerations when Doing Business in the United States

Intellectual property (IP) and proprietary technology are amongst the most valuable assets for businesses. These assets can be protected through several legal methods such as patents, trademarks and copyrights.

The intangible nature and relative portability of intellectual property make it easy to steal, difficult to protect and a target of industrial espionage. Such theft costs legitimate companies vast amounts annually in lost sales and business opportunities.

This webinar will help you find more on establishing legal protection to secure your intellectual property in the United States.

Why should you participate? You will:

  • Learn more about IP protection and rights in the U.S.;
  • Find out about strategies for limiting the risk of infringing U.S. trademarks and patents. The webinar will also address general clearance of new products from an IP standpoint in the U.S.;
  • Discover what to expect with IP litigation in the U.S. and some recent trends.

After the presentations, there will be a 20-minute Q&A period. The presentations will be in English but the speakers will take questions in both French and English. Through the Virtual Trade Commissioner, a) the webinar will be made available for on-demand viewing following the live session; b) participants may also download the presentation slides, in both French and English.
