The Embassy of Canada in Abu Dhabi is primarily responsible for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the largest and wealthiest of the seven Emirates. The Emirate of Abu Dhabi occupies 81% of the land mass of the UAE, and very simply put, is a oil powerhouse. The UAE possesses about 10% of the world's proven oil reserves, is ranked number three in the world after Saudi Arabia and Iraq in terms of reserves, with Abu Dhabi accounting for 95% of the total. Given the preponderance of oil and also natural gas (the UAE is ranked #4 in the world in terms of natural gas reserves), Abu Dhabi has made significant capital investments in downstream operations, notably petrochemicals and fertilisers. While each of the seven emirates has its own local government, Abu Dhabi is also the federal capital and home to a number of federal ministries and the Central Bank. The focus of the commercial program at the Embassy is on oil and gas, chemicals, electric power and equipment, metals, minerals and related Equipments, Environmental industries , plastics, defence & aerospace (military), space, government procurement, education and training and consumer products (except furniture and furnishings).Each officer is also responsible for services industries and capital projects sector but related to their specific industries only .
