The Canadian Trade Office, Taipei

Local Date and Time: November 23, 2009 16:01

The Canadian Trade Office in Taipei represents Canadian interests in Taiwan in the absence of formal diplomatic relations. Originally opened in 1986 under an arrangement with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the office now delivers most of the same services as Canada's other missions abroad.

The mandate of our Trade and Investment team is to promote Canadian economic interests in the region. We do this by championing Canadian products, services and technologies to the Taiwanese business community, supporting the case for investment in Canada, and working to ensure fair access for Canadian products to the Taiwan market. The Commercial section also provides assistance to its Taiwanese clients by matching their needs with the appropriate sources of Canadian products and services.

Working with a number of very committed partners, the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei has taken a proactive approach to reposition Canada's brand and image in Taiwan. Our message is simple- Canada is a Dynamic, High Technology, Multi-Cultural, Competitive Society. This is an obvious priority for our trade and investment program, but is reinforced as well through public affairs and cultural programming and through education promotion.
