Venue: In-person
Location: Angoulême, France
Target Audience: Publishers and authors

Event description:

The Angoulême International Comics Festival in January 2024, one of the largest events of its kind in the world (200,000 participants, professionals and general public), will focus on the Canadian 9th Art. Its international rights market is aimed at publishing houses specializing in comics that seek to sell the rights to their titles (translation, audiovisual adaptation).

For this 2024 edition, Canada will have an increased presence with a dedicated space: the Canada Pavilion.

The Canada Pavilion featuring a showcase of Canadian comics will have scheduled activities and a sector solely to promote the sale of rights and distribution for professionals as well as strategic locations for the sale and dedication of books.

A stand in the Nouveau Monde space open to the public, an information stand at the International Rights Market (MID), exhibitions in the city and animations in other spaces in Angoulême will complete this special focus of the Canadian 9th Art. This initiative is organized with the financial support of Canadian Heritage and in partnership with Livres Canada Books, ANEL – Québec Edition and Québec BD.

The Trade Commissioner Service will organize, in particular at the International Rights Market, a publishers' conference followed by a networking cocktail. This conference will be an opportunity for publishers to present their titles and news, and to debate one or more themes from the world of comics in connection with the values supported by the Government of Canada.

Trade Commissioners will be present on the ground to provide information and support and ensure the smooth running of the event.
