Why Hong Kong?
- One of the world’s leading financial centres with a world-class banking system, stock exchange and payment networks. Companies benefit from seamless cross-border transactions, access to capital markets, a robust regulatory framework and a deep pool of financial talents.
- A well-established legal and regulatory framework that supports financial services. Regulators maintain high standards and promote innovation while ensuring consumer protection. Virtual banking and insurance license, regulatory sandbox, open banking initiatives, digital identity solutions, cryptocurrency and virtual asset, and blockchain adoption are driving innovation and creating opportunities for fintech companies.
- A gateway between Mainland China and the rest of the world making it an attractive location for fintech companies looking to access the massive Chinese market and the ASEAN market.
- With direct flights from Vancouver and Toronto, Hong Kong and Canada maintain a long-standing bilateral relationship. The Canadian community in Hong Kong, approximately 300,000 Canadians ─ the largest Canadian community outside of Canada ─ helps to solidify commercial ties between the two regions and to foster business opportunities for Canadian SMEs.
