Why Taiwan?

Strategic gateway for MedTech co-development

Taiwan is globally recognized for healthcare excellence, ranking #1 in the world for 7 consecutive years (number 2024). Taiwan offers a trusted, innovation-friendly environment backed by world-class research infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and strong intellectual property (IP) protections. With 20% of its population projected to be 65+ by 2025, there is urgent demand for smart, patient-centered healthcare solutions. This is further supported by over CAD 5 billion in public investment starting in 2025 for AI diagnostics, smart hospitals, and telehealth.

ICT manufacturing synergies

As a global leader in semiconductors, ICT, and precision manufacturing, Taiwan enables the seamless integration of AI, IoT, and big data into medical technologies. Major ICT MNEs are actively expanding into medical technology and connected healthcare. This reinforces Taiwan’s position as a strategic hub for co-developing, piloting, and scaling next-generation smart health solutions.

Thriving MedTech and R&D ecosystem

Taiwan’s MedTech sector is expected to reach CA$4.3 billion by 2025, with strengths in digital health, AI diagnostics, and precision medicine. The ecosystem includes 1,220+ MedTech firms, 157 academic institutions, 9 research organizations, and a world-class health data infrastructure—ideal for R&D partnerships and clinical validation.

Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan

Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan (December 4 to 7, 2025) is Asia’s premier hospital-led MedTech event. In 2024, the Expo attracted 215,000+ visitors, 650 exhibitors, 158 hospitals, and 2,500 global buyers. The 2025 edition will spotlight breakthroughs across MedTech, BioTech, and HealthTech, further positioning Taiwan as a gateway for international healthcare collaboration.
