Why Macao

Known as the ‘Las Vegas of the East’, Macao is the gaming capital of Asia, reclaiming its status as the world’s top gaming hub by revenue in 2023. However, given the city’s heavy reliance on gaming, the Macanese government has been looking to transform its economy from a gaming hub into a centre for:

  • entertainment
  • events
  • hospitality
  • cuisine
  • tourism
  • ports
  • arts and culture

In November 2023, the Government published the city’s first plan on diversification, pushing gaming operators to diversify beyond gambling. They are now required to invest more in non-gaming amenities, such as family-friendly attractions.

Over the next decade, the six operators have committed a total of $15 billion in investments, 90% of which must go toward non-gaming offerings.

Testimonials

“We're engaging on a project with [one of the gaming operators]. It all started from the online pitch session you organized and we finally got in touch with their creative team and are now working on an exciting initial project with them. Hopefully this will be the start of something bigger moving forward. Thanks again for inviting us to be part of the program, really excited for this one!”
