Event description
China’s waste-to-energy (WTE) industry has grown quickly in recent years to help manage rising urban waste and find cleaner energy solution.
China has become the world’s largest WTE market, in terms of capacity and number of facilities. The WTE industry has been supported by government policies promoting environmental protection and sustainable urbanization.
The industry mainly uses incineration to convert municipal solid waste into electricity and heat. This helps reduce landfill dependence and greenhouse gas emissions.
China's WTE sector benefits from continued investments in advanced technologies and better environmental standards. It plays a key role in the nation’s broader goals of a circular economy and carbon neutrality.
