Event description

Are you a Canadian cleantech company ready to scale globally? As part of Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, the Advancing International Clean Technology Demonstrations (AICTD) initiative supports pilots and demonstrations of leading Canadian cleantech innovations with partners across Indo-Pacific markets. The Trade Commissioner Service (TCS), the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) are pleased to invite you to express your interest to join the AICTD mission to Australia, taking place October 27 to 31, 2025.

The mission will focus on energy storage and grid modernization technologies, offering you a unique platform to:

  • take part in the All-Energy Conference, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest clean energy event
  • benefit from business activities such as:
    • networking events
    • site visits
    • customized business-to-business (B2B) meetings with Australian organizations and end-users in the energy sector

Why Australia?

Australia's ambitious goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 positions it as a prime market for clean technology innovations. Additionally, the country's plans to decommission coal power stations by 2038 are accelerating the transition to renewable energy.

The New South Wales (NSW) Government's Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap aims to transform the state's electricity system into one that is affordable, clean, and reliable, with plans to deliver 12 gigawatts of new renewable electricity generation and 2 gigawatts of long-duration storage. Similarly, the Victorian (VIC) Government's plan for the state's electricity future targets 95% renewable electricity by 2035, supported by strategic investments in transmission and renewable energy zones. Australia is a key ally in the Indo-Pacific region, and both NSW and VIC offer strategic locations for Canadian companies looking to establish and expand their presence in the region. To ensure a reliable and stable energy supply, there is a strong need for flexible and modular energy storage solutions that can be deployed alongside distributed renewable energy projects. Grid modernization is equally important in Australia's energy transition. Modernizing the grid involves:

  • upgrading infrastructure to handle the increased integration of renewable energy sources
  • improving grid stability
  • enhancing the ability to manage energy flows efficiently

This includes the implementation of advanced technologies such as smart grids, which can optimize energy distribution and improve resilience against disruptions. Australia is investing heavily in grid modernization to ensure a secure, reliable, and efficient power system that supports its ambitious renewable energy goals. Despite these challenges, Australia has made remarkable strides in its energy transition. The country has witnessed substantial investments in renewable energy projects, leading to an increasing share of renewables in its energy mix. This progress is further underscored by the All-Energy Conference, the Southern Hemisphere's largest and most anticipated clean energy event, which showcases Australia's dedication to advancing its energy transition goals.
