Event description

The Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Canada are pleased to organize an information session and business-to-business (B2B) program for Canadian companies interested in business opportunities in the Albanian ITS market.

Participants in the information session will hear from local authorities and other organizations involved in the Albania’s ITS market. Speakers will provide information on topics such as the ITS sector landscape, ongoing and future projects in Albania, and potential business opportunities for participants.

Selected Canadian businesses will also take part in a B2B program in which they will meet with potential Albanian clients or partners. There is no fee to participate in this initiative, although spaces are limited.

Albania is one of Europe’s fastest-growing economies, with GDP growth averaging 3.5 to 4% annually. Infrastructure, tourism, and digital transformation are among sectors driving the expansion. Albania is investing heavily in modern transport infrastructure and systems, including ITS, to improve connectivity and align with European Union (EU) standards.

Market highlights

  • Strategic investments: Billions of euros are being invested in public infrastructure projects, including highways, rail modernization, and smart transport corridors.
  • ITS market potential: Albania is rolling out ITS projects nationwide, creating business opportunities for technology providers.
  • International funding: Several major projects are backed by the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the EU.
  • EU accession: Albania is an official EU candidate and a frontrunner in accession talks, further boosting regulatory alignment and market potential.
  • Ally and partner to Canada: Albania has been a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member since 2009 and maintains strong bilateral ties with Canada, including growing trade relations.
