Event description

The International & Indonesia CCUS Forum 2026 is a growing platform that brings together:

  • governments
  • regulators
  • project developers
  • investors
  • technology providers

The event aims to advance carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) deployment and associated carbon market mechanisms. It focuses on enabling policy frameworks, project development, financing structures, and cross-border collaboration to accelerate industrial decarbonisation in the region.

The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service in Jakarta, in partnership with the Indonesia CCS Center (ICCSC), is organizing a trade delegation to the forum from Aug 25 to 28.

Canadian companies joining the trade delegation will gain access to:

  • market and industry briefing on the CCS/CCUS, regulatory framework, and doing business in Indonesia
  • a meeting space at the event venue
  • the conference and exhibition
  • pitch sessions to tailored audience and pre-arranged business-to-business (B2B) meetings
  • pitch sessions to major Indonesia energy companies (group meetings)

Why Indonesia

Indonesia has an estimated 600 gigatons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) storage capacity in saline aquifers and depleted reservoirs, positioning it as one of the largest carbon capture and storage (CCS) opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region. This significant capacity supports Indonesia’s target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.

Indonesia’s CCS and CCUS, as well as emissions monitoring sector, is expanding rapidly. Growth is being driven by government policy, partnerships in the oil and gas sector, and international collaboration. More than 19 projects are currently underway across Sumatra, Java and eastern Indonesia, supporting the country’s net-zero emissions goal.

Indonesia’s climate policy identifies CCS and CCUS as key tools for reducing emissions while maintaining oil and gas production. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has established guidelines focused on upstream applications, while carbon storage in hydrocarbon reservoirs is overseen to align with national energy security objectives.

Cross-border CCS services and foreign investment present a major market opportunity for Indonesia. The country is positioning itself as a reliable and cost-effective destination for carbon dioxide storage, with the potential to strengthen its CCS industry and reinforce its role in global climate leadership as demand continues to grow.
