Event description
The Angoulême International Comics Festival is recognized as one of the world's largest events in the comic book industry. The event takes place from January 28 to February 1, 2026 and will host 200,000 participants, professionals and the general public. Its International Rights and Licensing Market (MID) is aimed at comic book publishing houses wishing to:
- sell or acquire rights (translation, audiovisual adaptation)
- establish partnerships
For this 53rd edition, Canada will once again be represented by a delegation of publishers and authors, showcasing the richness and diversity of the Canadian scene.
The Canada Pavilion at the MID will be the main space for professional meetings. Publishers will be able to organize meetings through the festival's official platform and benefit from business-to-business (B2B) meeting services organized by a consultant. There will also be a publisher pitch session and networking event to enhance the program.
In the Nouveau Monde area (open to the general public), a promotional booth will host:
- direct book sales
- book signings
- meetings with authors
This space will showcase the Canadian comic book scene in all its diversity.
This initiative is made possible thanks to the financial support of Canadian Heritage, in partnership with Livres Canada Books, SODEC, and Québec BD.
The Trade Commissioner Service will organize a publishers' conference at the MID, followed by a networking cocktail. This activity will allow publishers to:
- present their publications
- share their latest news
- discuss comic book-related topics that align with the values promoted by the Government of Canada
The TCS will be on hand to provide advice and guidance and ensure the smooth running of all activities. To register, and/or for more information about this event, please contact Trade Commissioner, Valérie Colombeau (valerie.colombeau@international.gc.ca).
