Germany and Sweden Autonomous Technologies (Dual-Use) Canadian Technology Accelerator

The autonomous systems technologies sector across Europe is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by the need for resilient, efficient and secure technologies across land, air and maritime domains. Heightened geopolitical tensions, labour shortages, climate-driven operational challenges and the push for digitalization are accelerating demand for advanced autonomous solutions.

European governments, research institutions and industry players are prioritizing technologies that enhance situational awareness, mobility, logistics, environmental monitoring and infrastructure resilience. Dual-use applications are especially relevant, as civilian and defence stakeholders seek interoperable, AI-enabled autonomous platforms.

Canadian companies are well positioned to contribute to Europe’s growing autonomous systems ecosystem, building on strengths in robotics, AI, advanced manufacturing and harsh-environment operations.

This CTA program is a joint initiative with the Trade Commisisoner Service (TCS) in Berlin and Stockholm. A cohort of up to 10 Canadian companies will be selected to participate in business development activities focused on the German and Swedish markets. 

The program is supported by key industry multipliers from Canada, Germany and Sweden. 

Potential local partners and clients in Germany and Sweden include:

• original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and system integrators for maritime, land and air applications in the civil and defence sectors
• research institutions
• defence forces, border guards, customs authorities and the German Federal Ministry of Defence
• critical infrastructure operators

For the German portion of the program, participants will engage with major defence and technology companies, research institutions and other organizations. A networking event will also be held in collaboration with the European defence technology ecosystem at Xponential Europe.

For the Swedish portion, participants will engage with major companies in the defence, telecommunications, automotive and mobility sectors, as well as defence and security associations, government agencies, innovation organizations and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

 This is a timely and strategically important opportunity for Canadian technology companies developing autonomous systems solutions to engage directly with the evolving ecosystems in Germany and Sweden.

• a revenue-generating business with fully built and validated technology that is looking for series A funding
• a passionate and committed team with market-entry goals for the German and Swedish markets
• sufficient resources to target and achieve growth in new markets and to fully commit to participate in the program

• Virtual onboarding: introductions to the CTA support team, program partners and fellow cohort members
• Virtual needs assessment: analysis of each company’s status and knowledge of the German and Swedish markets, as well as its program goals
• Virtual programming: market briefings, mentor matchmaking, pitch sessions and mentorship for the German and Swedish markets
• In-market program: March 10 to 12, 2027, in Sweden and March 15 to 18, 2027, in Germany, including curated business-to-business (B2B) meetings and pitch sessions with relevant stakeholders
• Germany program: one day of business-to-business (B2B) meetings and networking in Munich on March 15, followed by three days at Xponential Europe in Düsseldorf from March 16 to 18, including a booth and investor pitch event
