Firms must have the capacity to scale and pursue demonstration opportunities in the Indo-Pacific region.
Participation in the Advancing International Clean Technology Demonstrations (AICTD) initiative is subject to eligibility screening. All applications will be reviewed through a vetting process jointly conducted by the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS), Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), and the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). For further details, please refer to the information provided in the application link.
Ready to scale your cleantech solution globally? As part of Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, the AICTD initiative supports pilots and demonstrations of leading Canadian cleantech innovations with partners across Indo-Pacific markets.
The Canadian Cleantech for Mining Mission to Australia and Indonesia will focus on sustainable mineral processing and extraction technologies, and clean energy innovation technologies for remote mine sites. The mission offers a unique platform to:
Australia remains one of the world’s most advanced mining economies, with Western Australia leading efforts to modernize operations and reduce emissions. The sector is under increasing pressure to meet national climate targets, manage rising energy costs, and maintain global competitiveness amid declining commodity prices and infrastructure constraints. Stakeholders are looking for commercially viable solutions that can be deployed in remote and complex environments. There is a particular interest in technologies that support diesel displacement, improve energy efficiency and enable digital optimization.
Further reinforcing bilateral collaboration, the Canada–Australia Joint Declaration of Intent on Critical Minerals Cooperation (October 2025), along with Canada’s participation in the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP) and the G7 Critical Minerals Action Plan, provides a strategic framework for advancing shared priorities in sustainable mining. These commitments help Canadian companies to engage with Australian partners on solutions that:
The upcoming GRX26 conference in Perth offers a strategic platform to connect with key players looking for technologies that can enhance productivity while supporting decarbonization goals. The mission will build on recent outreach and sector intelligence gathered in Perth, reinforcing Canada’s reputation as a trusted partner in mining innovation.
Indonesia is rapidly emerging as a global hub for critical minerals, with significant reserves of nickel, copper, and cobalt — essential inputs for the clean energy transition. The country is investing heavily in downstream processing and integrated battery supply chains, while also prioritizing sustainability and ESG performance across its mining sector. Canadian companies are well-positioned to support Indonesia’s goals through advanced mineral processing technologies, electrification of mining equipment, and digital solutions that enhance operational efficiency and environmental stewardship.
Recent engagements at the Indonesia Miner 2025 conference highlighted strong interest in Canadian expertise across:
High-level interactions with leading Indonesian firms demonstrated opportunities for collaboration in copper and nickel development, including geothermal-powered mining and battery-grade material production. The newly signed Canada–Indonesia MoU on Critical Minerals Cooperation further strengthens the bilateral framework for sustainable mining partnerships.

"Our mission experience was highly valuable, offering a unique opportunity to engage in pre-arranged meetings with key stakeholders and gain insights through site visits. The tailored B2B meetings arranged by the Trade Commissioner Service facilitated meaningful discussions with industry leaders. The structured itinerary helped us connect with potential partners and understand the market landscape. These interactions strengthened our strategic direction and opened doors for future collaborations. We appreciate the well-organized approach that made this trip productive and impactful."
"We were really impressed by how well the mission was organized. I would just like to highlight the excellent work of the Trade Commissioner Service. Their contribution was perfect from start to finish: efficient, professional, friendly, helpful, and so much more. Having a country representative who is so dynamic and good at their job is really one of the keys to the success of this type of mission. Obviously, B2B meetings are essential for developing future collaborations."
The Canadian cleantech for mining mission to Australia and Indonesia is co-led by the AICTD regional Trade Commissioner and the mining and cleantech sector Trade Commissioners in Australia and Indonesia, in close collaboration with NRC IRAP and ISED partners.
