Are you looking to scale your digital health business? Boston, New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco are home to world leading digital health markets with growing activity, investment, and opportunities for Canadian companies. Now more than ever, the global situation is showing how innovations in digital health can provide new methods of health care delivery, which improves patient care and reduces costs. The Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) business development program can give you the knowledge and connections you need to enter and succeed in this market.)

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, we are currently offering our CTA programs virtually. Our in-market program will resume based on advice from public health agencies.

Who should apply

We are seeking early-stage Canadian technology companies addressing unmet medical needs. We use a broad definition of digital health including:

  • analytics and artificial intelligence
  • behavioral health
  • care coordination
  • diagnostics and monitoring
  • digital therapeutics
  • fertility
  • insurance/ benefits
  • mobile health (mhealth)
  • patient engagement
  • pharmacy
  • provider tools
  • telehealth

Who:

  • are fundraising Seed to Series A investments
  • have a vested interest in pursuing the United States (U.S.) market
  • have a passionate, strong and fully committed CEO or founder who can participate in the virtual program including:
    • advisory meetings
    • preparatory work
    • all kickoff and closing programming

What we offer

You will have access to:

  • a market readiness evaluation of your company led by a panel of leading venture capitalists
  • tailored advice from up to four mentors or local industry experts, as well as one-on-ones with Trade Commissioners in each market on:
    • identifying and reducing your market barriers
    • fundraising
    • securing clients
  • virtual panels and workshops on market dynamics and business strategy to inform long-term planning
  • virtual networking opportunities with brokered introductions to key industry stakeholders including:
    • healthcare providers, hospitals and pharmaceuticals
    • insurers and payers
    • innovative, like-minded entrepreneurs to share experiences and collaborate
  • pitch opportunities to U.S.-based investors and buyers

Program

The program will offer customized virtual support from August to October 2022 for about three hours per week. We will establish tailored priorities at the beginning of the program to develop your business strategy as well as advance your market entry, investment, and customer acquisition objectives. You will participate in:

  • advisory meetings
  • masterclasses
  • opening and closing events
  • and more

Following the guidelines for COVID-19, we will continue to reassess any in-person attendance for the CTA digital health in the U.S. As conditions continue to improve, companies should plan to spend a few days in each city as part of the demo days organized by New York, Boston and San Francisco in late September 2022.
